Larimar

Larimar is a rare form of Pectolite which was discovered in 1974 by Miguel Mendez on the island of Hispaniola in the Dominican Repluplic. He named this beautiful blue gem after his daughter, Larissa, and the Spanish word for sea: mar. This is the only place in the world this stone is found. I became aware of it on a vacation to the Caribbean and instantly fell in love with it.
The stone is formed by Miocene volcanic rocks, Andesites, and Basalts which erupted within the limestone on the island’s coast. The rocks contained cavities which were filled with minerals including blue pectolite. Larimar is said to be a highly spiritual stone good for stress, emotional pain, and to help you feel calm and relaxed.
Featured above are a few pieces that I’ve created using the beautiful sea-blue stone so far.

My New Adventure

I am so excited to finally launch my website! I have been dreaming about this for four years now and it’s awesome. I’m so happy to share my unique pieces of jewelry with the world. Four years ago I started making things using small glass beads and then moved on to semi precious stones and Swarovski crystal. The journey has been interesting and, let me tell you, I get bored easy so it didn’t take long for me to learn how to work with copper and aluminum, too. I love to create free-form with the copper and aluminum.
My newest thing to create is steampunk. Vintage has always been in my heart. I used to play in grandmas jewelry, but who didn’t?! I hope everyone enjoys looking at the wearable art I create and display on my new website. The site will always be changing so check back often!
